About

My name is Scott Orchard, I’m a graphic designer and web developer living in Orange County, CA. I’ve been in the design field since 2002. In April 2007 I decided to pursue an ambition of mine and have start my own design business offering the same services I’ve been practicing for the past 5 years.

Design Knowledge

I currently focus on graphic design, web development, print design & interactive media; working on projects ranging from small-scale print jobs to large-scale corporate website, and anything in between.

I’m experienced with cross-platform development, but currently use Mac’s for all of my design and development. I primarily use Photoshop or Illustrator for layouts, Textmate for and CSSEdit for web development. My current specialties are:

  • Web / User Interface Design (HTML/XHTML, CSS & jQuery/JavaScript)
  • Web Development (PHP & MySQL)
  • Graphic Design (Identity, Stationary, Documents, Invitations, Ads)
  • Interactive Design (Flash, ActionScript & After Effects)
  • Email Marketing (Email Templates & Campaigns)
  • Website Hosting

Work Experience

I’m currently self-employed, running my own design business and I am available for consulting work, drop me a line on the contact page if you’re interested in my services. I was the Senior Web Developer at Evolve Media in Brea, CA from 2002 to April 2007.

Before that I spent years working at various restaurants and juggling school. One thing I definitely learned from the restaurant industry is that customer service can make or break any experience.

Education

After graduating from Huntington Beach High School, I enrolled at Orange Coast College, studying a variety of subjects including film, political science, mathematics and business. Though I had a solid background in business, I decided on a change of pace and began to focus on creative subjects with a transfer to Brooks College.

In 2002, I graduated top of my class in and received my Associate Science Degree in Multimedia from Brooks College in Long Beach, CA. I’ve learned a great deal more from work experience than I did in school, and I continue to develop my skills with each new project.
