Welcome to my portfolio, this is a collection of online work and selected print projects since I began working in the design field in 2002. Some of the projects listed were completed at Evolve Media, while others consist of current client work and other contract jobs. I’ve briefly described each project, including my role and any agencies that were involved. Most of the projects featured below can be viewed online by clicking on the title, or one of the screenshots.
SALT. Optics
saltoptics.com is The Independent Lifestyle Company that creates premium handcrafted eyewear for individuals with a unique sense of style. They’re located in Costa Mesa, California, and produce beautiful sunglasses and optical frames for prescription lenses. This project began as a realign of certain sections and has progressed into a full-time client of mine. We revisited the product detail page to better showcase their products, with quite a bit of front-end HTML/CSS work, as well as recoding the back-end to add better functionality. We introduced a Flash animation to the home page to offer users a quick glimpse, “This is SALT.” Finally, we performed extensive cross-browser testing to ensure that any potential visitors receive the same experience, regardless of platform or browser.

Solomon Financial Mortgage
I was chosen by Solomon Financial to create a new logo and update their branding. Above is the culmination of our efforts.
After we were finished with branding efforts, we moved on to create a new web presence for Solomon Financial, freemoneyhour.com. Since 1990, their firms’ knowledge of the mortgage and real estate business experience supports their ability to create innovative solutions for our clients. We reorganized their previous online content and implemented a lead-generation mechanism, accessible by their staff. Since updating the Web site, they’ve received multiple compliments on their new look and are now offering products and services directly to their online visitors.

Shape-Up Day Spa
I was selected by Shape-Up Fitness Center in Corona del Mar, CA, to create a Web site to showcase the products and services offered by Shape-Up Day Spa. This project included creating and building a new Web site, as well as updating branding collateral and creating new marketing materials.

4th Annual Magic of Memories Dinner
I was honored to be involved with the 4th Annual Magic of Memories Dinner, an annual fundraising program involving Paul Mitchell the School, Leeza’s Place, The Andrew Gomez Dream Foundation, and Vidal Sassoon’s Hairdressers Unlocking Hope on behalf of Habitat for Humanity.
I designed the logo and branding for the 4th Annual Magic of Memories campaign, which would include the in-store posters for Paul Mitchell the School’s fundraising and the invitations for the dinner which took place on April 28th, 2007.

A website was also setup to offer additional information online and allow for the purchase of tickets, Magic of Memories, though the design followed the branding, I was not involved with the website development.

The Event Loft
I started with developing the identity for The Event Loft, the goal was something unique and upscale, the result was an interesting wordmark which contains elements that lend to a vertical atmosphere.
The Event Loft is located in Corona Del Mar, and offers a multitude of event planning services. They’ve brought together many local vendors under one roof, to satisfy any requirements for an unforgetable event. The website compliments their beautiful location.

Fleur de Lis Events
Recently redesigned site for Fleur de Lis Events, specializing in weddings, corporate events, art shows, charity events and just about anything you’d need an event planner for, you can view their previous themed microsite here Masquerade Ball 2004.

Surf City USA — HB Conference & Vistors Bureau
SurfCityUSA.com is the online presence for the Huntington Beach Conference and Visitors Bureau, I started working on this project about half way through development, so I didn’t take part in the initial creative process. My main contributions included the Flash based Photo and Video Galleries, building out new sections from the creative, ensuring CSS cross-browser compatibility and a lot of MySQL data entry for the transition to different databases. I linked to the Photo Gallery to show one of the sections that I developed, but my fingerprints were all over the site. We implemented browser specific CSS style sheets for troublesome Internet Explorer versions 6 and 7 using conditional commenting.

GHA Communities
Designed and developed the new site for GHA Communities, home buildiers specializing in exceptionally crafted homes in the Palm Springs Desert communities. This was a hybrid Flash/CSS/PHP development where the client determined that they wanted simple animated elements to compliment the website’s beautiful layout.

Dazz Motorsports
Designed and developed the new Dazz Motorsports site, the industry leader in premium wheels, with brands such as, Lowenhart, Maya, RacingHart and RH. This was a great project to work on, my design was chosen and I was able to build the site with a combination of PHP and a CSS-based layout, and Flash headers for the homepage and individual brand pages that really show off their beautiful products.

Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival 2006
Developed the website for the Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival for 2006, this was part of a redesign of their whole site and includes information on each of the movies entered submitted to the festival. The website was branded to compliment the print marketing campaign that was running concurrently. I’ve added this microsite to my server since the current version online excludes the 2006 festival.

These are some design ideas that I created, but were not chosen for the final layout, I wanted to include them because I felt that I took a unique approach to the project. The previous iteration of the site, which was developed at Evolve Media, is no longer online.

BigBand Networks
One of my first attempts at an all CSS layout, using single-image rollovers in addition to a dropdown navigation that renders over flash content. Developed the flash content and incorporated the LocalConnection method to get the flash files to communicate. If you click the link or screenshot above, you’ll be taken to the site on my server, rather than their current website.

Netscaler
Netscaler was a rather interesting project, I spent quite some time experimenting with After Effects and Flash to create the 3 homepage animations that were based on the same concept. The challenge was to bring to life a design solution that was beyond what could be done in Flash and be able to keep the animation suitable for online use. If you click on the link or screenshot above, you will see a different animation each time the page refreshes, for a total of 3 animations. Netscaler was acquired by Citrix in June 2005 and their site is no longer online so the link above takes you to a microsite on my server.
